Shafi oversees $100M in commercial real estate notes as an asset manager for a private fund. He has been partner in a hard money startup that now has over $5M under management, served as a lending advisor for a Houston family office, and ran his own small fund making special situation loans. Shafi is a member of Mensa and the Triple Nine Society.

Juan is the analytical powerhouse at Heartwood Capital Group. With a decades long career as a senior engineer in the oil and gas industry, Juan ensures nothing is missed during financial analysis. His attention to detail ensures that risks are vetted out or prepared for well in advance, and his fair and respectful communication style creates strong and genuine relationships with vendors and service providers.

Laura supports the underwriting process at Heartwood Capital Group by assisting with property evaluations that secure our note investments. She helps review documentation, gather market data, and maintain organized records for each transaction. Laura also aids the managing members with investor communications and contributes to smooth daily operations. She holds a graduate degree in civil engineering which provides an analytical foundation for her work.
